Oh Look! He Must Have a Big 'Un!

That's what Senator Ted Cruz (aka "Lyin' Ted," so named by another liar, Donald Trump..."takes one to know one," so the saying goes) likely wanted the press to believe when this photo was taken. In reality, however, he was just reeling in a lure.

Note the position of the baitcaster here...turned on its side. Holding a rod with the reel in this position, for anything other than casting, seems super awkward and, perhaps posed. Note, too, that he has the rod butt jammed in his "plentiful" belly...again like someone fighting a big fish.

On the surface, it would seem like a typical politician trying to be normal but missing the mark. The Internet, of course, is on both sides of the fence, ranging from hatred to support. Some say at least he's enjoying himself, while others say that if you're going to be a senator in Texas, you better at least know how to reel in a fish.

The author of the online account that I read this morning went on to note that there has been no comment about the photo from Cruz. "Maybe he's hoping the hype will swim on by," he said.

The Texas senator was on Lake Ray Roberts, attending the Bassmaster Classic June 11-13, 2021, in which Hank Cherry, Jr. won for the second year in a row.
