For Week Ending Sunday, Feb. 21, 2021

Monday, Feb. 15 (from Ron)...
In case you haven't heard, he's b-a-a-a-c-k, and don't you know he's pretty much picking up right where he left off before business called him out of town. Ron launched at 0930 this morning and didn't get a bite until 1200. Until that bite came along, he was about ready to give up battling the wind and drizzle. That first bite was from a chain pickerel, which he boated, followed by two decent bass and another pickerel. The bass weighed in at 4-5 and 4-7, "so I was happy enough by the time I recovered at 1300...a bit cold and damp," noted Ron.

Welcome home! Ron. Here's hoping you keep putting fish in the kayak.

Wednesday, Feb. 17 (from Ron)...Sun felt good today, especially when heading south. Wind and cold not so good when heading north! Caught several, including a crappie and three bass (a dink, a 3-7, and a 2-1). One of the latter was tagged...the first I've ever found outside of Back Bay. No slime darts. The dink reminded me that they can't all be big 'uns.

Saturday, Feb. 20 (from Ron)...
Started the day partly cloudy, mostly cold and a bit breezy, with a chance of bass. Caught four this afternoon, weighing 1-4, 1-14, 2-4 and 2-15. All fell to the Rapala Original Floater, with no hits at all on the XTS Minnow. Was surprised that once again I didn't get any chain picks.
Sunday, Feb. 21 (from Ron)...
B-R-R-R! There was supposed to be a wind shift "lull" this afternoon, but it didn't happen. Fished for three-and-a-half hours, catching three chain picks before finding the only bass of the day at 3-11. Even with the sun out and lighter winds than yesterday, today felt colder. At least no skunk!

(Was out for a little drive with my wife this afternoon and went by Pungo Ferry, where a couple trailers were in the parking lot. One belonged to Andy M., who happened to come in while Skip--also out for a little drive with his wife--and I were chatting. Skip hollered and asked how he had done, and Andy immediately registered a big "goose egg.")
