We've Been Down This Road Before
Back on Saturday, April 7, 2007, as reported in The Virginian-Pilot, it hadn't snowed in Norfolk in April since 1989. And it hadn't snowed on April 7 in Norfolk since official record-keeping began in 1890. "So much for those records," wrote staff reporter Hattie Brown Garrow. For those who need visual proof, above is a copy of the staff photo Bill Tiernan shot April 7, 2007, of the flurries falling at Trinity Lutheran Church on Granby Street.
Granted, only one-tenth inch fell that day, but you know what? If any of these dearly beloved (and boy! do I use that term loosely) meteorologists are accurate, we very well may see a repeat performance. They're saying that what we're getting at the moment could possibly end as a mixture of sleet and/or snow and rain.
