The air was warm, but the water--well, not so much. As a matter of fact, it was anything but...warm, that is.
Said Ron, "I was lucky in that my buddy got there before
me and made the path you see in this photo (see left) to the unfrozen parts."
Once on their chosen fishing site, the duo went about trying to find a few fish...and a few it was. As Ron acknowledged, "We only found chain
pickerel. My buddy caught a 23.50- and a 23.75-incher. Meanwhile, I managed a 16-incher. No bass or crappie, though."
The kayakers' trip back to their launch site proved every bit as challenging as the buddy's original ice-cutting trip to their fishing hole. You see, the ice had
shifted since the initial path was created.
"Needless to say," said Ron in conclusion, "I couldn't troll. Maybe tomorrow will be
better."
