Saturday, Nov. 13 (from Ron)...Last three freshwater trips have not gone well. Fished Stumpy Lake, targeting bass and carp, skunk. Fished Asheville Bridge Creek, targeting anything, skunk. Fished Munden Point to Milldam, with a trip into Oakum Creek, 1 dink bass. Saltwater fishing has been better. Maybe I'm losing my freshwater touch???
Saturday, Nov. 13 (from Wayne and Ken)...We went to Bob's this morning and signed up for their tournament. As it worked out, we just "contributed" but had a good time, too. Proved to be a windy day, with lots of leaves in the water...to the point where we went looking for some protected stretches in the last few hours to just get some relief...especially Wayne on the trolling motor. Didn't cash a check, but we each caught two keepers, and Wayne worked a couple of nice fish alongside the boat, only to have them spit the hook at the last minute as he was trying to steer them into the awaiting net. Wayne introduced me to a lot of new water today, and I wasn't really prepared for the greater depths in the Northwest. Had no crankbaits in my box that would reach the appropriate depths, so had to borrow one from Wayne. Will be sure to have my box of deeper crankbaits the next time, though. Wayne tried fishing some soft plastics and a spinnerbait today, to no avail. And I tried a chatterbait and jerkbait, with the same results. Crankbaits seemed to be the one and only ticket to success. Saw a few folks we both know, which is always nice.
